I prefer it over the rapid battle cannon. Less shots but AP 1 melta large blast. More universal. Battle cannon is great vs numbers but I count on the thermal cannon more.

I disagree actually lol.
You will find the 1 shot will scatter more and do less than the dual shot battlecannon. Also depends if your filling a role you cant take care of anywhere else

I usually find I want anti armour or heavy infantry when I use one. Best knight imo is the atrapos from experience. But as up u said depends on the slot you want to fill. Usually mechanicus has enough tesla or grav for most things so cannons better for them.

Good points. I am leaving on using it in a war convocation build but truly haven't decided 100%

If you have enough grav and haywire use the battle cannon. Helps with hoards. If you're concerned on the armour and 2+ front take the thermal one.

If you're fighting eldar the battle cannon is better from my experience
