I guess the idea is the Hive Tyrant will fly around and shoot vehicles n' stuff. Skyfire sounds cool, now that I know what it is.
Ymgarls will hopefully not kill everything 1st assault. I saw how that works last game, I don't want to own them in one turn and then be caught by shooting.
I took 15 Termagants so that I could take a Tervigon. I don't know if 15 is enough, but I guess the Tervigon can poop out some new ones. And they get the benefits from his adrenal glands/toxin sacs right? And then he can FNP the gants too?
Trygon cause they look awesome. Lol.
Advice? Is this at least kind of on the right track?
Tyranids 1000p. (Tyranids) HQ - 320 Hive Tyrant (320) Leech Essence; Paroxysm; twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms; twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms; Hive Commander; implant attack; regeneration; bonded exoskeleton; wings.
Elites - 184 8 Ymgarl Genestealers (184)
Troops - 275 15 Termagants (75)
Tervigon (200) Catalyst; scything talons; cluster spines; adrenal glands; toxin sacs.
Heavy Support - 220 Trygon (220) adrenal glands; toxin sacs.

Yeah, I would definitely say it is. Cody had most of that in his army for sale from Matt too.
I kinda think the Hive Tyrant is a lot of pts at 1k, personally. You could add more gaunts for troops and make your Tervigon the HQ if you wanted. If you dropped the hive tyrant and went that route you'd have 120pts to fill out the troops. I would actually even consider a Tyranid Prime for your HQ at this level. He can join up with the gaunts and get FNP from the Tervigon.
But if you like this set up, get rid of most of the extraneous stuff on the Tyrant. You only need Wings, Toxin Sacs and double Devourers. Maybe Old Adversary or Hive Commander as well. I don't think Regen is ever worth it, nor Implant Attack. And don't forget he can take other psychic lores as well!

320 points does seem like a lot. I took the 2 sets of TL devs for anti air, or vehicles and stuff. Does the Hive Commander work for when he deep strikes as well? Cause that would be cool. Regen is cool, but I guess if I can't roll 6's then it's a waste of points.
Tyranid Prime is the really cheap one right? Is it any good?

Here's a bit of a revision. I took out some unnessiary upgrades and put devs on the gants. I also traded out the Ymgarls for Hive Guard.
Tyranids 1000p. HQ - 270 Hive Tyrant (270) Leech Essence; Paroxysm; twin-linked devourers with brainleech worms x2; toxin sacs; wings.
Elites - 200 2 Hive Guard (100) 2 Hive Guard (100)
Troops - 320 20 Termagants (100)
Tervigon (220) Catalyst; crushing claws; adrenal glands; toxin sacs.
Heavy Support - 210 Trygon (210)
1,000 points

Ymgarls over the Hive Guard?

You need shooting, even at 1k. Nids play a lot like daemons in that the guns open the tin cans and then everything else eats the gooey insides.
You can take Zoanthropes for 60pts. They are great at killing tanks and have AP3 blasts. Hive Guard are great at 1k since there isn't a ton of AV14.
I guess, really, you should just take what you want and make it work. I think at 1k I would spam the board with bodies. Tons of gaunts, couple tervigons, then some shooting with a couple hive guard and a Zoanthrope. Probably also take a venomthrope. Just my opinion. Tyranids just have a ton of options. Highly underrated IMO!

Well that's what I was thinking with the Hive Guard over Ymgarls. I figured them and the Flyrant would probably do an okay job of dealing with vehicles. And then my Trygon and/or Tervigon will be CC oriented. that was kind of my plan anyways, idk how great it is.
