Well here is my first battle report, and it is also from memory from 2 days ago so if i get a few items wrong forgive me
First off I did have a great game on Wednesday vs Jon, well played sir!
It was a long game which came down to the wire.
Mission & Set up
Mission was base objectives and deployment was pitched battle, standard 12” deployment along table edge. Terrain was 2 abandoned buildings in the top left & bottom right quadrants of the table. A rock column was to the left side of the board and a rock field in the bottom left quadrant. Ruins were in the central portion of the board, a ruined tank below the ruins and a few other wrecked building s scattered around.
The Deathwings base objective was positioned in the abandoned building in the bottom right hand quadrant of the board. The Ultramarines base objective was positioned in an abandoned building in the Top left quadrant of the board.
The Deathwing force under command of Master Belial consisted of
• Interrogator-Chaplain Iron Mountain
• 4 Squads, 2 of which are assault squads
• 2 Crusaders (Crazy Horse & Kills Alone)
• Brother “Two Heads Talking” Venerable Dreadnought
Squad 3 and Revered Brother “Two Heads Talking” deployed in the building at ground level around the objective.
Crusader “Kills Alone” with squad 2 (assault terminators) led by Interrogator-Chaplain Iron Mountain positioned itself next to the building.
Crusader “Crazy Horse” with squad 1 (assault terminators) led by Master Belial positioned itself next to “Kills Alone”.
Squad 4 took up position around the remains of a burnt out tank.
The Ultramarine force led by Sicarius along with grey knights (led by an inquisitor) allies lined up along the length of the table with an occupying squad holding their base objective and dreadnought to bolster their defenses. Behind the building was stationed a whirlwind launcher.
A predator, A squad of assault marines, A devastator squad of missile launchers, scouts in a rhino, combat squad of marines and a large squad of terminators. A combat squad of scouts out flanked and an assassin was hiding on the board somewhere.
Pre-Turn one
The Ultramarine scouts came in from the left side of the board.
The grey knights inquisitor forced squad 4 to fall back
The Ultramarines failed to surprise the Deathwing.
Turn one – DW
Squad 4 advanced towards the scouts behind the rock field
Crazy Horse and Kills alone rushed forward and set off their defensive smoke
Squad 3 moved to a better location and opened fire on the terminators
Two Heads Talking opened fire into the terminators as well
Turn one - U
Scouts advanced behind rock field
Assault marines advanced behind the rock column
Marines advanced and destroyed Crazy Horse
Scouts in rhino moved into the central ruins
Grey knights advanced
Turn 2 – DW
Belial’s squad attacks the rhino in the ruins and destroys it while Belial engages the combat squad alone and makes them flee, he then consolidates beside Kills Alone.
Iron Mountain and squad assaults out of the raider into the terminators forcing them to fall back
Squad 4 opens up on the scouts and leaves 2 standing
Two Heads Talking leaves the building
Turn 2 – U
Terminators fall back
Grey knights enter ruins and take out ½ the squad leaving 1 terminator
Assault marines advance
Predator advances
Space marines assault belial
Turn 3 – DW
Belial, Iron Mountain and Iron Mountain’s squad enter Kills Alone and turns toward the left board and advances
Squad 4 finishes off the scouts
Turn 3 – U
Assassin appears at the DW objective and assaults squad 3 killing a man
Lascannon cripples Kills Alone making it explode, the resulting explosion takes out some of the space marines
Assault marines advance and assault squad 4 but end up getting massacred after taking 2 terminator’s with them.
Turn 4 – DW
Two Heads Talking repositions and assaults the assassin, in the end the assault cannon terminator is the lone survivor and moves to secure the objective.
Remains of squad 4 move toward the predator
Turn 4 – U
Attacks on squad 4 result in the assault cannon terminator’s death.
Space marines assault belial’s squad and get wiped out.
The Ultramarine terminators fulfilled their name and took out my lone terminator who was close to the base objective.
Sicarius moves towards Belials squad.
Turn 5 – DW
Squad 4 assault the predator and blow it up
Belial, Iron Mountain and Iron Mountain’s squad attacks and assaults the grey nights resulting in their annihilation and a terminator death.
Two Heads Talking moves to the 2nd floor of the building and opens up on Sicarius
Turn 5 – U
Sicarius assaults Belial resulting in his death but Iron Mountain and Iron Mountain’s squad attacks finish off Sicarius and they fall back toward the DW base objective.
Turn 6 – DW
Iron Mountain breaks from the squad to outflank the terminators while the squad rushes toward the base objective.
Belials original remaining squad member has finished off the scouts and rushes towards the objective
Turn 6 – U
Terminators assault Iron Mountains squad resulting with more death from Iron Mountains squad and the elimination of the Ultramarine terminators but in the end halting the DW squad enough to prevent a draw.
